    Notes
    • Henry flew 44 trips over Nazi germany and enemy territory with the Pathfind Group. On the fateful 44th trip four planes were detailed to bomb Munster. After several unsuccessful attempts they pulled out to assess the damage. They were caught by a Nazi fighter, the plane's fuel tank was set alight and the plane blew up in 5 or 6 seconds. Henry managed to get one chute strap on and was the only member of the crew of 7 to survive. He was taken prisoner and remained one until 22/4/1945 when they were liberated by the Russians.

Henry's Military Citation reads as follows:
Honours and Awards: Distinguished Flying Medal
No. 417677 Flight Sergeant Henry Stanley Tiller
Flight Sergeant Tiller has completed many successful operational sorties, seven of these being against Berlin. In January 1944, he was mid-upper gunner in an aircraft detailed for an attack on Magdeburg. While making the bombing run the aircraft was attacked by a Messerschmid 109 but Flight Sergeant Tiller's accurate shooting and excellent directions enabled his captain to frustrate the attacker. This airman is a very efficient air gunner whose fine fighting spirit and courage have made him a valuable asset to the squadron.
