    Notes
    • Isla attended Blyth Primary School. She worked on the farm and did household chores. Because she was of small build, she was nicknamed "ting", one of the family used to sing "thing, thing, the little thing" and as her older sister Gladys could only say "ting", the nickname stuck. Isla met Crawford in 1938 at Blyth when he came to preach at the Methodist Church. Just as they were engaged in 1939, war was declared. Crawford was asked to fill a vacancy created at Streaky Bay by so many young men enlisting. He became a home missionary and after two years was asked to stand as a candidate for the ministry. After his marriage they moved Cowell. Isla supported her husband in his ministry, wherever they went and took part in local and church activities. After Crawford's death she retired to live at Naracoorte, near her daughter,
