- Max attended Owen Primary School from the age of 7 years until just before his 14th birthday. He gained his Qualifying Certificate and also a certificate in woodwork. He attended the Owen Methodist church and also Sunday School with his parents and sister. After leaving school helped out on the family farm until WWII broke out and he joined the Army. it was during this period that he met his first wife whilst waiting at he Adelaide Railway Station on a very cold night in 1945. He was discharged from the army 30.3.1946. max did not see any active service overseas due to the fact that he was injured during training and spent 6 233ks on crutches. Meanwhile his unit was sent overseas. After marriage they lived at Plympton where they stayed until Roma's death. there were no living children from this marriage. Roma lost her only child in 1947 and was unable to have any more.
After their marriage max and Pat lived at Lemzig and still do. Max has worked at various jobs since he has been in Adelaide. He went into the building business and worked at Stratco Ltd as a sheet metal worker for 27 years. he is a member of the Red Shield R.S.L. and also played golf when he lived at Owen. Max and Pat have travelled throughout Australia showing dogs for 14 years. They also enjoy just touring. (The Tucker Family in Australia, 1992)
