  • Notes 
    • In his early working life, Joseph Hanna, worked as a powder monkey, blasting away the shale at the brick yards.
      In 1924 Joe worked on the construction of Tom Ugly's Bridge at Sylvania, preparing the rock foundations.

      During the depression years, like so many others, he caught and sold rabbits.

      In 1939 he went to work as a laborer/jack of al trades at Duly and Hansford at Carrington Road Marrickville and twenty years later his name was mentioned in the Dufor Social Club's Monthly Review to recognize his long service. The firm was making Dufor engine parts, wheel bolts and nuts, etc. Duly and Hansford provided real employment, skilled jobs and apprenticeships for generations.

      Joseph enjoyed playing a mouth organ, rode a push bike, played cricket and had small bets on the horses. Annie and Joseph often went on family picnics by train with Rose Faint (n. Neal) and their children Mary, Margaret, Janet, Arthur and Kevin.

      Joseph died on the 7 Nov 1974, late of 97 Unwins Bridge Rd, Tempe and Annie died 4 years later at hospital on the 31 Oct 1978.

      The both had a life long association with the St Peters Chourch of England from birth to death by christenings, weddings and funerals.
