  • Notes
    • Sidney was educated at the Mallala School receiving his Qualifying Certificate. He stayed at home to work with his older brother and father on the farm. The remainder of his years were spent at Mallala and farming was his main interest. Horse teams were used and Sid was proud of his horses and took great pride in their condition and seeing them turn out well. Later a tractor (Twin City) was purchased for farm work and it was with a great deal of reluctance that the horses were trucked away. On the marriage of his only son Donald a house was built in Mallala and Sid and Hettie enjoyed a few years there before her death. He stayed on for a time but eventually became one of the town's first residents in the Hostel built for the town's Senior Citizens.
In his youth Sid Joined the Local Gymnaium Club and excelled. He loved cricket and played for the local team for a few seasons. In later years he played bowls. In retirement his great pleasure was to assist new players. He was a member of the Methodist Church and took an active part as Trustee, Steward, and Secretary of the Manse Committee. Ill health forced Sid to Live very quietly for the last few years.
