Notes:
The Wellington General Cemtery is no longer used for burials but contains historic sites and information, as does several smaller historic cemeteries in the area.
Managed by the Wellington Council since 1968, the General cemetery, or the Old Cemetery as it is now known, was created in the 1800's with early settlement. The records were managed by the various churches of the day and records were also kept by the grave-digger at the time. For some time during the 1930's, the grave-digger was not literate, and therefore no records were kept. There is also an unknown quantity of unmarked graves in this cemetery, with little to identify if spaces are occupied.
Getting there: Travel 3 km south of Wellington. The Old Cemetery is on the right-hand side of the Highway (coming from Wellington) and is the southern side of the cemetery. Latitude: -32.58068521288046, Longitude: 148.9518427848816
