Mavis Eileen Hanna is the second child of Joseph and Annie Hanna (n. Neal). She was born on the 3rd August 1925 and married John Clarke on the 11th May 1946. Mavis's bridesmaids were her cousin,17 yr old Marie Neal and her sisters 19yr old Alma and 23 yr old Gladys. Mavis and John had three sons Raymond, Jeffrey and Brian. Max attended Owen Primary School from the age of 7 years until just before his 14th birthday. He gained his Qualifying Certificate and also a certificate in woodwork. He attended the Owen Methodist church and also Sunday School with his parents and sister. After leaving school helped out on the family farm until WWII broke out and he joined the Army. it was during this period that he met his first wife whilst waiting at he Adelaide Railway Station on a very cold night in 1945. He was discharged from the army 30.3.1946. max did not see any active service overseas due to the fact that he was injured during training and spent 6 233ks on crutches. Meanwhile his unit was sent overseas. After marriage they lived at Plympton where they stayed until Roma's death. there were no living children from this marriage. Roma lost her only child in 1947 and was unable to have any more.
After their marriage max and Pat lived at Lemzig and still do. Max has worked at various jobs since he has been in Adelaide. He went into the building business and worked at Stratco Ltd as a sheet metal worker for 27 years. he is a member of the Red Shield R.S.L. and also played golf when he lived at Owen. Mervyn was named after Sir Henry Havelock who was a soldier and distinguished himself in the Indian Mutiny. His statue stands in Trafalgar Square, London, Sir Henry married the daughter of Joshua Marshman, a Baptist Missionary in India. (Joshua Marshman was a very noted scholar and missionary. He went with Ward and Cary, with wives and children, to Serampore, India, in the early 1800s. Joshua hailed from Westbury Leigh, Dilton Marsh, Wiltshire. He translated various parts of the Bible to Indian dialects and even began a Chinese Translation. Between the missionaries they set up a printing press and schools and Hannah, the wife of Josua, taught in a girls' school as well as trying to help with hygiene. She was still bearing children, some living and others dying at birth or living a short time. She must have been quite a strong-willed lady. Joyce tiller recently had a letter from an Indian gentleman praising the work she did all those years ago.
Mervyn attended Owen and Mallala schools and then spent a short time on the farm at Mallala and also a period with hi Uncle Charles at grace Plains. In 1918 he joined the staff of the Commercial Bank of Australia which in later years amalgamated with the Bank of New South Wales and is now called Westpac Banking Corporation. Mervyn began at Head Office in Adelaide King William Street and spent periods at Balaklava, Strathalbyn, Kimba and Burra. He also travelled the state as relieving manager for several years. On transfer to New South Wales in approximately 1937, he served at Blackheath, Bathurst, Queanbeyan and Mortdale. A short time was spent as relief manager until his retirement in 1965. He bought a house at Springwood in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Reading always occupied his spare time and in the years at Springwood his garden was his chief interest and pleasure. Now, in semi-retirement, at Allenby Gardens, she is still very involved with church work, being an elder at the Allenby Gardens Uniting Church, and has a really beautiful garden which she tends entirely on her own. Millie lived as a child at "Willow Lodge", Warnertown. she attended Primary School at Warnertown and left school to work on the family farm to help her mother. She was only 7 when her father died. She was the youngest living child of ten children. She loved riding and training horses but apart from this was not involved in any sport. Her hobbies were painting and needlework. Millie and Tom only had one child, Murl who was born on April Fools' Day. When the doctor was called from Port Pirie, 12 miles away he said, "I hope you aren't fooling me."
Millie worked for the Australian Red Cross Society voluntarily during World War II and afterwards, and was presented with a commemorative badge by the Governor at Government House in Adelaide to mark 20 years service.

Miriam and Clem left the area, when the soil started to deplete (there was no super phosphate in those days), along with many others, to try their luck in the north. They lived in the flat-fronted stone farm house, not far from the hills at Warnertown, currently owned by Mr and Mrs Schutz who run goats and sheep on the property. On the corner of the property was a Methodist Church which the family attended each Sunday. The church ruins are still visible from the main north road. Service was often followed by dinner at their farmhouse for their married children. The house faces west and overlooks the plain and gulf. The walls are an enormous thickness and height. It would have been very cool in summer. There were several underground water tanks. At the front of the house when there was a picket fence, the gateway was decorated with the rib bones of a whale caught in the gulf. The flesh was melted down in Port Pirie. It was quite a memorable event for the town.
Clem's mother, Harriet (nee Parsons), was married previously to a much older man, Joseph Green by who she had three daughters (one of whom died in the bush) before she was 20. His father William came from Bath England. He and Harriet had two children in Western Australia, Leonore dying as an infant. Clem came to South Australia as a small child in about 1848. As William was a whaler he chose to settle in the Encounter Bay area. He later became a farmer at Inman Valley but also helped build the causeway across to the island at Victor Harbour. Other children were born in South Australia. Some of his mother's relatives (Parsons - originally from Gillingham, England) also came to South Australia after her father died in Western Australia and they also settle in the Victor Harbour Area. Clem and Jane obviously met in Inman Valley were both families lived.
When Clem died Jane continued to farm the property in Warnertown with the assistance of hired help and is listed in the directories of the time. She was also a mid-wife and capable first-aid giver.
