- John was Killed in the GWR. He was a line layer for the railway and at the time he was doing some maintenance on some points when he was hit by a train in the sidings at a place called the milk bank, Station Road, Swindon. He died of his injuries aged 60yrs. 1901 Census, 6 Woodbine Terrace, Chisledon. with sons William, Ernest, and Walter 1891 was living at 84, Coate cottages, Chisledon 1881 living with mother Rebecca and children, Kate, William, Edmund, Florence and Albert 1871 census had them living at 67 Coate cottages, Liddington with parents and grandson Henry 1861 census had them living at 70 Wick Lane, Liddington. with parents 1851 census had them living at 83 Liddington Wick, Coate, Swindon with William, Martha, Roseanna, and John.
