  • Notes
    • John attended Kybunga Primary School for 7 years, each day walking along the Kybunga creek with his brothers, sisters and mates. On leaving school he first worked on a farm at Rhynie, South Australia, then went to live in the City at Croydon South Australia and worked for the Municipal Tramways Trust. After the death of his father, he and his brother returned to live at Kybunga on "Zulu Farm", and even though there were many hard times combatting problems with rabbits, soil erosion and the depression, farming methods and better payments and many a happy and rewarding experience. In 1937 John married and brought his wife to Kybunga to live on the farm. John was always a keen sportsman, playing cricket and football and was the instigator of the Stanley Cricket Association Colts. Due to his sporting abilities and involvements, John was awarded the O.A.M (Order of Australian Merit) in 1980 by the Queen. John retired to live in Blyth South Australia, shortly before his death.
